You’ve probably heard of the concept of “no platforming” but it would appear there are some people who want to take it just a little bit further than the stage of your local university lecture theatre. There’s a petition on change.org that is calling for the media to “Stop giving Nigel Farage air time on television, in the press or the Internet.”  The idea some people have come up with is that if you don’t like someone’s political views then they shouldn’t have the right to expound them in a way you might possibly be exposed to them.  This kind of approach to life in general, and politics in particular, worries the crap out of me. I also think that[…]

I view the human race as my personal entertainment system and the current US presidential contest has really delivered on that front. Here are my highlights so far. 1. The way both sides have been trying to make out that their candidate cares about you and your needs. What a pile of mouldering moose dung! They will lie, cheat, obfuscate and bluster until their lungs collapse just so you, the “dear sheeple”, will believe what they say. All politicians are in it for THEMSELVES. They are there to grab as much booty as they can and to Hell with you and your snivelling little lives. I’ve even heard radio interviews with the “dear sheeple” who talk as if a candidate is[…]

In answer to a blog post by that arch greenie Caroline Lucas…. ————– Pubs are meeting places that bring people together? No. That’s more likely to be the local community centre or, in this day and age, an online forum or social media group. Maybe even the local coffee shop, but not the pub. Pubs are businesses that are dying because our society has changed AND the taxes and regulatory burden they operate under means that they are no longer economically viable. Does that mean we should attempt to save them? No, of course not and here’s one reason why…. We have had a number of public houses close in my rural area. One closure, and subsequent demotion, generated complaints[…]

Today there’s a big conference in London with about 80 Defence Ministers from all over the world gather together to talk about peacekeeping. Why? Well some might say it’s about making the world a safer place for all people. Some might say that it’s a way to coordinate the efforts of many to prevent further states failing and descending into chaos. They might even say, at the end of their list of reasons, something about preventing mass migrations. I suspect that, if the politicians from Western countries were being honest, they’d admit that this is all about preventing further mass migrations from the likes of Sub-Saharan Africa to Europe and North America. An issue that is fast becoming THE political hot[…]

Apparently, the UK is about to burn £2 million of our cash on a wall to control the refugrants living in the notorious Calais Jungle. It left me wondering if the decision maker behind this idea had ever heard of the Maginot Line, World War II and the naughty German Army that just went around it? (Okay, the story is more complicated than that but the core lesson remains. A fixed defence is easily bypassed). This wall just ignores the problem (a large number of refugrants who want to come to the UK) by applying possibly a record breakingly expensive sticking plaster.  Is this going to end the harassment suffered by drivers using the Port of Calais? No. It will[…]

Ever since we (the UK) dared to vote for Brexit we’ve been bombarded with pro-EU messages by various Remain supporting personages and organisations. The idea is to convince us that we’re hopelessly out of touch xenophobic bigots and morons AND that our vote to leave the hallowed EU was the biggest mistake ever made in a referendum. The actions of the leading lights of the EU, since the Brexit vote, have made me ever more certain that my vote for Brexit was the right thing to do. Not just for me but for the UK and for the rest of the EU. Here’s one example…. Chancellor Merkel (Germany), President Hollande (France) and Prime Minster Renzi (Italy) had themselves a mini-summit to[…]

Recently I have witnessed multiple incidents of cyclists flouting the rules of the road with an impunity that is almost awe inspiring. The only group who have the same level of contempt for other roads users are the ubiquitous White Van drivers. I have witnessed… A woman cycling the WRONG way down a road. A cyclist cutting across a roundabout even though they couldn’t not have seen if there was any oncoming traffic. Large groups of cyclists bunched up and blocking a 60 mile an hour A road. Cyclists zooming through red lights without concern for other traffic or the pedestrians using the crossings. Pairs of cyclists riding side by side on narrow A roads – effectively reducing all traffic[…]

Our society has transformed itself into the Netflix Generation. We have come to expect the right to choose what we watch, when we want to watch and where we watch video content. Why should this approach not be applied to politics? We no longer want a system where we vote every five years for a person/party who represents a swathe of policies that we don’t totally agree with. We want the right to pick and choose which policies should be implemented. An end to the Freeview system of politics where you get a few channels (policies) worth watching amidst a torrent of pointless crap. Here’s what I mean. The current government has some policies I agree with and others that are[…]

I’m forced to acknowledge that my knowledge of “yoof” culture has never been very good, even when I was young. But last night I was “treated” to a valuable lesson in current “yoof” culture for which I am truly grateful. About 23:30 I noticed that the amount of noise emanating from the road outside my home was rather more than usual. A brief twitch of the curtains furnished me with the reason. A group of “yoof”, seemingly having been turfed out of someone’s nearby abode, were continuing their party on the pavement adjacent to the A161 in Epworth. The group of “yoof”, who did seem to have recently imbibed no small measure of intoxicating beverages, proceeded to inform the entire[…]

A top secret EU plan has fallen into my sticky hands. Once the UK activates the Brexit process the following will occur. 1. The channel tunnel will be blocked with stale croissants. 2. All cross channel ferries will be sailed into the middle of the English Channel and sunk. 3. A giant water slide will be constructed stretching from Calais to just short of Doveu, UK, Brexit, cultural purgeeueuer. This will be called the EU migrant disposal system. 4. The EU, having decided to prevent further internal dissent, will build a new Atlantic Wall stretching from Scandinavia to the Rock of Gibraltar. It will be manned with members of the new EU Grande Army. 5. Fearful that the UK might[…]
